Settings and Configuration

Post by zmachine01 » 08 Feb 2019 01:35

So what exactly is the difference between saving your "Settings" and saving your "Configuration?" I haven't found any topics concerning this in the help section. Thanks

Generally when someone tells you to do either on the forum they are mainly referring to saving your XYplorer.ini (the terms are usually used interchangeably though), but if you want specifics, saving your config is referring to just the XYplorer.ini, and saving your settings refers to all your settings files (which are separate to XYPlorer.ini) such as FVS, servers, Catalog etc.

for more info see these options (and their corresponding help file location):

File | Save Settings (ALL SETTINGS)
File | Settings Special | Save Configuration (XYplorer.ini)

Oh I see so, just saving my config doesn't save my tags etc. Gotcha.
Thanks

I have read the help file,File -> save settings -- it doesn't save all the settings for that you have to do this -- https://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=migrate

Don,does doing the above transfers everything -- Whatever is there in the configuration, tweaks, and whatever else there is in xy?
