Tabsets: Can't revert to saved

Post by cadu »

Hi,

I'd appreciate your help.

As you can see in this screencast (http://bit.ly/2nqci72), XYplorer (v19.10) isn't reverting Tabsets to the saved ones.

Is there something to do to force reverting to the saved tabset?

Thanks!
Carlos

Thanks for the nice movie, and sorry for the late reply, and yes, looks like a bug. I will look into it ASAP.

OK, it works here. So, hmm... why doesn't it work for you?

Your movie does not show the Status Bar.
- When you save the Tabset it should say: "tabset saved: <name of tabset>"
- When you revert the Tabset it should say: "tabset reverted: <name of tabset>"

Does it?

Thanks for the reply!
I recorded another video showing the issue and the messages in Status Bar: https://1drv.ms/v/s!Aicp80bKqtj90SZu66ISzEivzYP6
You can see my XYplorer can't revert tabset to saved.

Go to this file (paste into Address Bar) and check the modified date to see if it's really written when you save the tabset:
<xydata>\Panes\!2\pane.ini

I can confirm the tab set is really written/saved.
The problem seems related to the "revert" process.
I performed a test in which I deleted all tabsets and created a new one from scratch. It fails when I tried to revert.
I recorded the test here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aicp80bKqtj90xEsZrXBiD7NQ4Lp
Any further direction to try solving the issue?
Thanks!

That's really strange.

Could you check the 2nd pane (enable Dual Pane), please. Maybe it is loaded into the wrong pane?

The 2nd pane didn't load the tabset reversion.
Please, see here further testing: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aicp80bKqtj90xW6ybos-nJOgRbm

In the next beta there will be some debug info. After you do "Revert to Saved", paste this into the Address Bar and press ENTER:

Code: Select all

dlog;
Then post the results.

Hi,

I'm still facing the issue Xyplorer can't revert to saved tabsets.
Here it is the debug log after the unsuccessful operation.
Could you please give directions on how to try solving the issue?

Thanks,
Carlos

This looks all normal. Currently cannot see any reason why this should go wrong. :|

(Note that in current versions those debug messages have been removed.)

Thanks for replying!
Is there any way to reset/erase all TABSETS database, in order it should work as in first time XYplorer is installed?
This way I expect TABSETS revert to saved returns to normal behavior.

I did not test it, but if you go down to "<xydata>\Panes" and delete (or move somewhere else so you can undo it) all folders apart from "1" and "2" this should leave you with nothing but the 2 default tabsets.

Even more radical would be to delete (or rename) the whole "<xydata>\Panes" folder and see what happens.

Thank you for directions, but the problem is persistent!

(1) I renamed "<xydata>\Panes" and restarted XYplorer.
(2) Created a new tabset.
(3) Opened folders.
(4) Tried to revert to saved, and it didn't work.

Also, I just installed a brand new XYplorer to test "Tabsets - revert to saved". It worked.

I recorded my screen showing the tests above (with "dlog" info):
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1L6tBu ... 83-fFrWYFN

Later I replaced the "XYplorer.ini" in the brand new installation with the .ini from my version. After that XYplorer "tabsets revert to saved" stoped working too. Then I'm narrowing the problem to something with "XYplorer.ini".

Any further direction? Can I try editing something in "XYplorer.ini"?

Thanks!

1) The next beta has new debug log entries. Please try it again.
2) After "Revert to Saved", can you still use those tabs (or are they just ghosts due to a drawing glitch)?
