OT: Ain't Waitin by Justin Townes Earle

Post by admin »

Just learning this song. Lyrics start like this:

It's Sunday mornin',
Fryin' chicken
Watchin' baby workin'
In the k'tchen
I got in late last night
And I move a little slower
I ain't waitin' on nothin'
I just got nowhere to go

Now this last line, what does it mean:
a) I don't have to go anywhere
b) I cannot go anywhere (have no place to go)

?

I'd go with a. He's just hanging loose 'cause he's got nowhere he has to go. Here's a nice link to some live recordings on NPR (National Public Radio) done mostly on Mountain Stage in West Virginia https://www.npr.org/artists/89955985/ju ... wnes-earle

Is he fryin' chicken while watchin' his baby workin' in the mornin' or is he watchin' her in the mornin' while she is fryin' chicken?

If he is fryin' the chicken then he really can't go anywhere because it's a major fire hazard to leave your chicken fryin' on an unattended stove.

Now if the fryin' chicken jumped out of the pan, ran outside and crossed the road... :om:
