Any way to access Windows grouped file actions?

Post by Andarras »

Hi,

In Windows, if you select up to 15 items of the same extension, Windows will action them as a batch. Some programs will have custom actions for the batched files.

Example: If I select a group of media files they will launch into the media player as a playlist. If I select multiple PDF's they will all open separately in the Acrobat.

Unfortunately, XYplorer doesn't seem to offer these. It seems like we can only play/action one file at a time. Is there a setting that enables the grouped selection actions?

Thanks!

Mh? If I select 5 mp3 files in XY, context menu - Play,
all 5 items are queued in Windows Media Player...

I did some investigating. When the files are viewed in a folder through XYplorer all the standard 'grouped file' actions are available. However, these options are not available when the grouped files are in a search tab. I've got my search results going to new tabs.

Is this a glitch?

No, but it requires a tweak: https://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=tweak

AllowMultiLocShellMenu=1

Btw @Don, I'd really like to see this one in the gui. Far too important (why should anybody not want this?)
to hide it as a tweak...

You're a legend! Thanks!

Surprised that's not set to 1 as default as I would expect this to be a very commonly used functionality.
