Live Filtering a Search List

I noticed that live filtering a search list continuosly re-triggers the search each time a character is typed. This was confirmed by Don somewhere else on the forum. What's the rationale behind this design? I mean, I thought that LF acted on the list and the list is something static, once a search has been completed. Or am I missing something?

Internally the Live Filter is a search. Filtering a Search List just ANDs another pattern to the search and then repeats it.
