Hi,
I've got myself a NAS and currently setting up the backup and copy plans. File access to the NAS is done using CIFS.
Since I never had any obvious indications of "bit failures" using the standard Windows file copy both at home and at work (with CIFS and NFS) in ~15 years I'm asking myself, wether the additional XY verification options are adding any measurable benefit on top of the existing checksum mechanisms on the several network layers (tcp, ip, application).
What are your default settings, especially for network shares?
Cheers,
