PDF preview locks XYPlorer

Hello,

when I preview PDFs the first preview works fine, but the second preview hangs XYPlorer. What could be the reason and how could I fix it?
I use Foxit PhantomPDF Business on a Windows 7 notebook.

Version numbers (XY / Phantom)?
Even with a fresh version of XY?
It doesn't matter which pdfs you are previewing, it's always the second that locks up XY?

Yes independent from the PDF it is the second one that locks XY

I could try to change the standard PDF viewer. But how?

Sorry, I have no access to that specific version. Tried v7.3.6.321 on a fresh
Win 7 x64 VM with XYplorer 18.40.0100
and I can preview 20+x pdf files without XY locking up. So at least I'd say
it's not a bug with that specific version of XYplorer...

I could try to change the standard PDF viewer

PDF viewers/editors that are known to work with XY (their preview handler
to be specific):
PDF X-Change Viewer (v6) / Editor (but it got a bit... bulky with the latest release)
Sumatra PDF

Do NOT use Adobe PDF reader!

Just to add to @highends information, my personal preference is SumatraPDF, I have never had a problem with it and use the 64bit SumatraPDF.exe with XY, if you just want to use it for previews/thumbnails and keep Phantom associated as a default app that is possible, here is a link to a pretty thorough list of instructions, you can pick and choose how many of them you choose to follow depending on your needs.
