Custom file name for file copy

Post by Ben »

Hello.

Is it possible to create custom file names when copying files?

I copy files by CTRL + dragging file

The new filename should be <oldFileName>_<currentDate>

I know there is a similar option via the context menu, but the date format differs slightly from what I need.

Thanks a lot,Ben

Hi, Ben.

You can edit the template for filename affixes > date affix as shown in the screenshot below.
Configuration - XYplorer.png
Configuration - XYplorer.png (76.85 KiB) Viewed 766 times
You can modify it to *_<date dd-mm-yyyy>.
If you duplicate a file e.g. my_file.png using File > Duplicate > Copy Here with Current Date (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+D),
it would result in my_file_20-09-2017.png.

The help file has more info on the date variable if needed.
