Copy without properties

Sorry if this is asked&answered, but the volume of posts and FAQs is overwhelming when you search for a common phrase.

Is there a default ini that will prevent xycopy from stalling when it encounters "copy this file or folder without it's properties" situation? It's frustrating to start a big copy operation at bedtime only to find it stalled right out of the gate at daybreak. Thanks,\.
