May I prevent column size changing when creating new item?
May I prevent column size changing when creating new item?
So, when creating new folder or file in list, columns change their size. Can it be turned off? Thanks.

Menu - Tools - Customize List - [ ] Autosize Columns?

Problem matters only on Tiles view because usually there can be several parallel name columns in list. When creating new item in list with Tiles view, it changes column size. Shouldn't newly created item fit to current column size?highend wrote:Menu - Tools - Customize List - [ ] Autosize Columns?
I want columns to autosize in List or Details view, though. So I have the option turned on by the default.
Can I handle this like that: List and Details views will have autosize columns option turned on, and Tiles won't?
Thanks.

Imho no, this is a global option, not something that persists only in single views. Although this could be bound to folder view setting (like it's planned with show folder sizes) in the future. Don?

Are the auto-sized columns too small or too wide? (I just saw a bug here which seems to make them too small on autosize in Tiles view.)tim wrote:Problem matters only on Tiles view because usually there can be several parallel name columns in list. Yes, columns become small (smaller than mine) when creating new item (e.g. new shortcut — I do it often).admin wrote:Are the auto-sized columns too small or too wide? (I just saw a bug here which seems to make them too small on autosize in Tiles view.
Gotta restore folder view settings after that.

It might work better in the next beta. (For a number of reasons this is a little complex.)

v17.90. Creating new items in Tiles View is still breaking my folder view (column sizes). Is there just any way to solve it?

So, you want Autosize Columns, but not when creating new items?

Re: May I prevent column size changing when creating new item?
Actually, I don't want Autosize Columns in Tiles view at all. In most cases, but with exceptions. I have 4 columns fixed width in most Tiles views so they don't jump all the time and use all space. So when I create new items, this order breaks. I understand that it's my personal view on how it should be, but maybe it's possible to have at least a tweak for that? Thanks.admin wrote:So, you want Autosize Columns, but not when creating new items?
