XYplorer 15.0. Win 7 Ultimate PC
Hi All. I customize my HDD partition icons. In MS Windows explorer they look OK.
In XYplorer Details View the icons are corrupted and have a small number in the bottom left corner.
How to correct this ? Thanks for your help.

Re: hard disk icons
By changing registry keys for the HDDs
Re: hard disk icons
Just discovered the wrong icons are only in the 15. versions of XYPlorer.
Have gone back to 14.3 - which shows them correctly.

Sounds interesting. Could you attach a screenshot of this, please?david.t wrote:In XYplorer Details View the icons are corrupted and have a small number in the bottom left corner.

Re: hard disk icons
You can try it yourself. Here is a sample .reg file to change a HDD icon - of course you will need to edit it
to use an icon that you have on a disk.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\DriveIcons]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\DriveIcons\D]
@=""
"Defaulticon"="d:\\DTIcons\\Foldericons\\harddisk.ico"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\DriveIcons\D\DefaultIcon]
@="d:\\DTIcons\\Foldericons\\harddisk.ico,0"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then check what you see in List View for the icon in v. 15 and then v.14.3
to use an icon that you have on a disk.

Re: hard disk icons
To send you a screen shot, I would need to overwrite v.14.3 with v.15.x again.
Paste the screenshot and then re-install v.14.3 again.
It is not worth the hassle as I am now quite satisfied with 14.3
I have given you enough info to investigate the problem yourself.

Re: hard disk icons
You're aware that running another version of XY only takes extracting the relevant XYPlorer.exe to a temporary folder and dbl-click it.
No need to mess with your current installation.
If that's too much to ask then I wish you good luck in the future with any bug reports.

Re: hard disk icons
Can anyone translate the RalphM post to English and tell me what it has to do with my observations regarding
versions 14.3 and 15.x ?
versions 14.3 and 15.x ?
Re: hard disk icons
RalphM's point was that XYplorer is a portable application.
If you use the no-install downloads you can just extract XYplorer.exe to any folder and run it without affecting your installed instance.
Thus the hassle you're using as an excuse does not actually exist and it would be rather easy for you to take screenshots to document the problem.

Cannot reproduce here in a fresh instance of v16...

I think it better if admin delete this thread. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
Re: hard disk icons
we want to help you.
• get the latest PORTABLE archive from here >> http://www.xyplorer.com/download/xyplor ... nstall.zip
• Extract the XYplorer.exe file from that archive to a temporary folder, say, C:\xyplorertmp\. That's right, you don't even have to extract any of the other files.
• >> This is COMPLETELY PORTABLE. You don't have to install anything. <<
• Then run that exe. Take a screenshot of the issue (bad icons, number at one corner ...) and post it here.
• Then close and delete the extracted XYlorer.exe, and a "Data" folder that will be created in the same location as the exe.
And you're done.
