I read about ImageMagick and thought I'd give it a try. Tried installing the binary (.EXE file).
Google Chrome got stuck right at the end of the download. There was "0 bytes" remaining to download though, and the exe file was right there in my downloads folder... So I figured it must be fully downloaded.... It turns out that "folly" downloaded is more like it!
It wouldn't install, and now I can't delete the son of a b****!!! XY gets stuck like this:
I tried re-downloading it, but that didn't work.
I also tried Shift+Del. That didn't work. Tried Wipe. That caused a crash.
I even tried xplorer2 and Total Commander and both of them crashed too.
How the @#$% do I get rid of this file now ?!?!

Seems like Windows has one of its inexplicable file locks. Perhaps logging out or restarting your computer will help?

Ah yes--that did work. Many thanks.aliteralmind wrote:Seems like Windows has one of its inexplicable file locks. Perhaps logging out or restarting your computer will help?
Actually I probably should have thought of them myself. Anyway, I guess it goes to show that no matter how robust a filemanager is, Windows is still the boss when it comes to doing things inside Windows...

You might have tried closing all instance of Chrome and trying again to delete.

Actually I did try that. And there was an instance of Chrome.exe in Windows Task Manager--which I kilt. I also checked to make sure the file itself didn't have an installer trying to run....SammaySarkar wrote:You might have tried closing all instance of Chrome and trying again to delete.

Crash in the sense of crash? No error message?kunkel321 wrote:Tried Wipe. That caused a crash.

Not sure if it was a "crash." No progress dialog came up or anything. XY just became unresponsive, so I killed it with Win Task Man... I did let it run for two or three minutes before killing it though.admin wrote:Crash in the sense of crash? No error message?kunkel321 wrote:Tried Wipe. That caused a crash.

OK, so some Windows call did not return. Not much I could do. Clear Windows issue.
