Dupes column not showing after a "Find Dupes" search.
I'm running the find-dupes search, but no Dupes column is being displayed. I looked it up in help, and it seems like this column should just appear (it's not optional or turn-off-able). It's not one of the right-click-to-show-a-column items, either.
What am I missing?

I see that Dupes tab (in Find pane) is not active.

I don't understand. I clicked on [Find now] in the "Find Files > Dupes" panel, and the "Search results" tab popped open. What else do I need to do?

Oh.
Okay. I right clicked on the Dupes tab, it's blue now, and I made the rest of the tabs non-blue. I ran it again, and now there are no results. I tried different combinations of "Applied filters" (whose checkmarks make the corresponding tabs blue), but there are no results no matter what.
Next step?

Re: Dupes column not showing after a "Find Dupes" search.
The dupes column is showing, I believe, between the '#' and 'Path' columns, but it doesn't look like there are any duplicate files found.
Are you certain there are duplicate files in that directory?
Keep in mind XY's checking that the file's are identical - which for MP3s & other media is often not ideal since identical music data is not flagged if the metadata differs or even if it is the same but in a different order within the file.

Re: Dupes column not showing after a "Find Dupes" search.
aliteralmind I cannot imagine 2 dupes that have Name, Date, Size and Content SHA-1 the same. This is not possible, unless you do not do it expressly. And for this, these two duplicates should be in different locations.
You can check the work simply by making a copy of file and check only Size for example in Dupes tab.

Re: Dupes column not showing after a "Find Dupes" search.
Yes. Of course.
I'm looking for duplicates of audio files that are in the same directory (or potentially a sub-directory), having the same name, except with perhaps "(1)" or "(2)" appended.
So they'll have exactly the same content, and the same *beginning* name text. But they'll have been downloaded at a different time.
I changed it to:
- Name & Location: Fuzzy, Include subfolders
- Dups:
--- Match: Name, content, and size
--- Filter: Name, Dupes
- Options: 25% fuzziness
And now it finds 12 sets of groups. It's not, however, finding this:
Even if I up the fuzziness to 100%, it doesn't find these three.
---
HUP! I got it.
The problem is that "Name" is checked under "Dupes > Match". Unchecking it makes it all work. So the "Match" items *override* the filters, it seems.
This dialog's UI is pretty confusing.
Thank you for walking me through this!

They are just additional filters connected by logic AND.aliteralmind wrote:The problem is that "Name" is checked under "Dupes > Match". Unchecking it makes it all work. So the "Match" items *override* the filters, it seems.

One more thing I can't figure out regarding this. According to the help documentation:
Right-clicking on the "Dupes" column header:
Right-clicking on the items in that column:
How do I get these options?
I'm not seeing these options, and nothing in the find-files configuration dialog seems applicable.Right-clicking the Dupes column when the list is sorted by this column pops a special context menu with two commands for selecting items based on the dupe groups:
· Select the First Item in Each Group
· Select the Non-First Items in Each Group
Right-clicking on the "Dupes" column header:
Right-clicking on the items in that column:

"Right click the Dupes column" === right click the green area.
You first right-clicked column header, which shows the "Columns" menu.

The bottom-most screenshot is indeed clicking in the green area, and I'm still not getting those options.

Re: Dupes column not showing after a "Find Dupes" search.
I see those options if I start XYplorer with the /fresh command-line switch.
Restarting without that switch, it reverts back to the screenshots above (does not show the options).
Not sure how else to diagonse this, aside from changing each config setting one at a time until something clicks. I've customized a lot of stuff...

Got it: Full Row Select! It's a bug. Fix coming...
