The damn little thing seems to work as expected, Sammay.
I'll need to observe more of its notification behavior and pm you on any issues found (mainly: what happens when I'm away from the computer? Will it dismiss and I'll not see it at all? Any other near-tray notifications will interfere?, and the likes).

Thanks for keeping it a general "beyond XY universe" usage tool. May be useful on more occasions.
-will it work in parallel instances, in that case?
-can the icon be customized, ini-based?
-mouse hover message could display ini-based messages so monitored site can be distiguished on tray, what about?

All in all, another tedious task killed by community! Thanks!

:D
the AHK reference quotes MS on tooltips wrote:"if the user does not appear to be using the computer, the system does not count this time towards the timeout [of the tooltip]."
Therefore, if you aren't apparently using you computer, the tooltip should stay on the whole time. (maybe MS uses NSA to see when you're not in front of the PC :twisted: )
And yes, other tray notifiers interrupt it's tooltip.
The other things are all possible, with a little tinkering of the sourcecode.

but I'm juggling with multiple projects nowadays, so let's keep this low-prio. :whistle:

Modified your script a bit.
+ Show Thread's Title and user who made last post
+ Close, Escape, Right click on the notification will goto that webpage
+ Left mouse to drag the notification around (it will remember the last position)

Can someone (Sammay, binocular or someone else) please provide a version that combines/enhances the two versions' features?:

-do not steal focus (this is key!);
-auto-dismiss after x seconds, on mouse/keyboard motion (win notification default) OR dismiss on click (ini option);
-go to the latest thread via ini-based (Firefox?) browser (not the system default one) (in case, dismiss on click should have an 'x' button, so it can be dismissed without triggering the browser);
-custom icon, ini-based (.ico and/or jp(e)g/bmp/png support? :D );
-work in parallel instances, so ini parameters can be set to monitor another phpbb forums using two or more .exes;
-mouse hover message could display ini-based messages so monitored site can be easily distinguished on tray (makes sense on multi-instances);
-x/y position coordinates starting right to left, bottom to top so a near-tray exhibition can be easily set, resolution-wise;
-poster and title as message;
-tray visibility.

Thanks in advance!

...well...

At first glance it was awesome to see I could even tweak the program icon but...

in almost 20 years of computing, it's the first time I find a program not allowing ctrl+v on a user input field...

...not only that, 'IT'S NOT ALLOWING ME TO FULLY TYPE THE ADDY, halting at the first dot!

In other times, I'd patiently write to the author(s), would gladly beta test, etc, etc... this is just not me, these days. Not when such a BASIC thing is broken/not working at a .3.7 version...!

Thank you very much, Sammay.

(yes, I'm in debt with you, regarding that letter... I'm just waiting for clearer scenarios to come up)

well, I should say sorry then. (cause I hadn't actually tried the app myself :oops: )
You've laid out quite a detailed battle plan - nice to have a target. It's a great idea for a coding project.

("regarding that letter... I'm just waiting for clearer scenarios to come up" - no worries!)
