Sticky pane paths with free/portable version?
Sticky pane paths with free/portable version?
This morning I started testing XYplorer using the free version installed portable and have been unable to get the two panes to always open in C: and U:. I searched the found discussions about getting this to work but have been unsuccessful. The discussions I found don't mention free or portable so I'm wondering if my problem is a consequence of the free version installed as portable. Suggestions please.

Welcome to the forum
Make sure these settings are off
[ ] Configuration | Startup & Exit | Autosave settings after this many minutes
[ ] Configuration | Startup & Exit | Save settings on exit
Open C: and U: in your panes
Menu - File - Save Settings
Exit
Start XY again
Fine?

Re: Sticky pane paths with free/portable version?
Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, no joy. Both panes still open in "Computer".
FWIW, location is in C:\Apps\XZplorerFree. I find the xyplorer.ini file in C:\Apps\XZplorerFree\Data and the panes.ini files in C:\Apps\XZplorerFree\Data\Panes\1\t and ...\Date\Pane\2\t. The date/time stamps match the last close time. Is there an entry in those .ini files that can be set manually?

Indeed, there does not seem to be a good way to achieve this currently. Which is a bit strange. I'll put this on my list.

Re: Sticky pane paths with free/portable version?
You might have overlooked it but in the meantime it happened:
Code: Select all
v18.00.0011 - 2017-06-23 17:00
+ Configuration | Startup & Exit | Permanent startup path: Now you can state
a dual startup path, i.e. a startup path for each pane individually. Both
paths should be separated by a double pipe (||).
General Syntax:
Startup Path Pane 1||Startup Path Pane 2
Both parts are optional.
Examples:
C:\||D:\ Pane 1 -> C:\; Pane 2 -> D:\
||D:\ Pane 1 -> (keep last path); Pane 2 -> D:\
C:\|| Pane 1 -> C:\; Pane 2 -> (keep last path)
Remarks:
- Also the command line supports the new syntax.
- Startup path handling has been rewritten from scratch to make this
possible.
- Remember that a conventional single permanent startup path will always
overwrite the last path of the *active* pane (which can be pane 1 or
pane 2).
