Favorite icons across a network ?
Favorite icons across a network ?
I want to know if favorite icons could be shared across a network. If multiple computers share the same folder, one computer has the favorite icon setup for the folder, and all other computers see the same favorite icon without having to set the favorite icon for each computer ?
Re: Favorite icons across a network ?
Without configuring the other computers to use a non-standard Icons folder? Em, nope...
Otherwise: Delete their local xyplorer icons folder and create a directory link via mklink.exe
mklink /d "<path to your XYplorer data folder>\Icons" "\\<server>\<path to the shared icon folder>\"

I seem to remember doing this with a shared network folder at work. Not sure though. It wasn't via an "xy feature" though. I put the ico file in the actual folder, then right-clicked on the folder > properties > change icon > and browse to the icon in the folder. Maybe?

kunkel - If you can remember, that would be great; highend is talking about a symbolic link which may work on a network.

The part I'm not sure of is checking to see if the customization "took" on a coworker's computer. Pretty sure it did. I'm off for summer though, and when the school year starts I'll be at another location, so I won't be able to experiment for a while. Maybe you can try it though? It might depend on what kind of network, security settings, and whatnot. I dunno. Sorry I'm not more help.CookieMonster wrote:kunkel - If you can remember, that would be great; highend is talking about a symbolic link which may work on a network.
