No, they're not. Within each a.b release, the links all point to the same file.

That's correct, I'm afraid...Mesh wrote:eil wrote:they are all to your service in beta branch.Mesh wrote:Do you want me to narrow this down to the specific beta? If so, I'll need access to those.

But if there's interest: I have some of the in-between-versions and could send them if wanted.
Just send me email address and the wanted version by PM.

Thank you, that's very generous. Let's see if Don wants me to narrow it further. If so, he may have them all easily archived and may be able to just put the whole bunch onto an FTP server or something.
If it's too much trouble for him, I may take you up on that.

That's why the downloaded .zip is named xyplorer_11.30_beta_noinstall, for example.eil wrote:wow, i never thought that with each new beta all links lead to only new one.Mesh wrote:No, they're not. Within each a.b release, the links all point to the same file.
To distinguish the sub-versions the names had to be like xyplorer_11.30.0004_beta_noinstall
(That are the names I use to store them... )
Don once said he doesn't do this to reduce some overhead...

i always thought it was just for easier naming, but each link under description leads to own beta. shame on me.PeterH wrote:That's why the downloaded .zip is named xyplorer_11.30_beta_noinstall, for example.

All said is true for beta versions but you can download older full versions from the freezer in XY's license lounge, where you have to sign in.

Re: XY is very slow to open files now
The issue here is the ability to be able to download each and every beta version. The License Lounge does nothing to help with this.RalphM wrote:All said is true for beta versions but you can download older full versions from the freezer in XY's license lounge, where you have to sign in.
Re: XY is very slow to open files now
Don, just to mention an additional tidbit in case it helps - the context menu lag doesn't happen for folders, only for files.

Re: XY is very slow to open files now
I don't keep EXEs of each beta version, so I cannot help here. But yes, further narrowing it down would certainly help.
BTW, is there anybody apart from Mesh having that issue?

Test to upload a beta here...
...as I expected: it's (much) too big, only 512KB are allowed
I'm not sure that mail will allow it? (.zip is 2.734KB)

Re: XY is very slow to open files now
Well, don't worry. Between v10.90.0400 and v11.00.0000 are only 10 days. That should work to spot the crucial difference.
But I will only start searching when more people have this issue!
And I need feedback from Demset whether the latest fix works for him as it worked for LittleBiG.

Are you 100% sure that you really tested BETA version v11.30.0004?Mesh wrote:admin wrote:
Anyway, I'll try something. Let's see what happens in the next version.
Thank you so much for trying. Unfortunately, there is no change with the latest version. 10.60.0100 still brings up the context menu almost instantaneously, but the latest version still takes a slow count to 8.

Re: XY is very slow to open files now
If you mean 11.30.0004, the fix you provided there has no effect for me. As with Mesh, the earlier tweak fixes the delay for loading files, but the context menu still has the same delay.admin wrote: And I need feedback from Demset whether the latest fix works for him as it worked for LittleBiG.
I can confirm that the delay doesn't happen when bringing up the context menu for folders, only for files.
I can also add that the exact same delay occurs when trying to expand the submenu "Open With". Every other submenu opens instantly, but that one has the same 6-8 second delay as the parent context menu.
