Can't preview MP3's.

Post by Manifold »

When I try to preview a .mp3, I get the error...

Code: Select all

Cannot decode. (MpegVideoOld)
Help, please?

Does it happen with any mp3 or just some? If the latter, please send me (a smaller) one.

Some more infos:

The extension-device mapping is read from the following registry key (XP):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI Extensions

The device-DLL mapping is read from the following registry key (XP):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI32

The value "MpegVideoOld" comes from your registry: apparently some installation has renamed what has been "MpegVideo" before.

HTH, can't do any thing without more information,
Donald

Hey, I rooted through my registry. I found the MpegVideoOld entry in this:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI

I deleted it, and presto, MP3 support is back. Thanks.
