Configuration set to run Backup (#1) in asynchronous mode changes to synchronous mode after delete operation. Example: Start large Backup while in progress, queue another Backup (in this case to the same target volume). While this is occurring perform a Delete operation on the volume that contains the source for Backup #2. Once the delete is finished the second queued Backup will start concurrently with the ongoing original Backup #1. Background Jobs dialog stated Backup #2 was queued before Delete operation was performed.
