Bug: Occasionally file names not editable any more by slow double click

Post by pstein »

This bug happens occasionally but not always
It starts with a click on a (primarily *.pdf) file to open it in a pdf viewer or editor.
After editing something inside the document (e.h.highllghting text or deletion of a pdf page) I close the pdf viewer or editor.

Then I slowly (!) double click on the just touched pdf file in XYplorer.
I expected "as usual" that the file name becomes editable.
But this is not the case.Even when I wait 5 minutes a slow double click does not make the file name editable.
Even worse: All other files in the current directory are NOT editable as well.

The only solution so far is that I jump to another directory and jump back.
Then all the file names are editable again.

This happens in approx 20% of all cases.
I cannot intentionally reproduce it, but it happens all the time

I guess this is clearly a bug in XYPlorer v23.70 (and before) under Windows 10

How can I fix this?

Peter

Is that PDF preview by Adobe? I've often seen irritating focus issues with Adobe previews in the past.

No, I am using PDF XChange Viewer + PDF XChange Editor.

My Windows contains no Adobe software (not I am aware of)

Me too, but I'm not able to reproduce the issue.

For me, regardless of the configured PDF previewer, the last previewed file is always locked,
even when no longer viewed until I select another file in the pane.

Yes, that seems to be the problem.

But again: "Even worse: All other files in the current directory are NOT editable as well."

I cannot figure out what the reason is.
I guess its a bug in XYplorer

I have had the same thing happen to me but I couldn't say what filetype it happens to (if any specific filetype at all), or under what conditions.

Does it help to open/close a menu? Or to focus the tree and the back into the list?

Sorry, Don, couldn't say for sure. It's been a wee while since it last happened to me but, if I recall correctly, it really didn't matter where/what I clicked as long as it was out of the pane.
