UAC does this to you. Try to run XYplorer NOT as admin, and it will work.

Re: Cannot drag files from outside into xyplorer
Can you explain how to run XYplorer not as an Administrator when I'm logged in on an Administrator account? I've used XYplorer for years but have been really annoyed that I can't drag attachments from Gmail in folder. Of course, I blamed Google because it's Google. Turns out it's XYplorer. I can drag Gmail attachments to a Windows folder.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Cannot drag files from outside into xyplorer
Well, I'm logged in with an admin account and I can drag files into XY from outside. So your problem could lie elsewhere. Is it only Gmail attachments? Can you drag files from desktop into XY?

Re: Cannot drag files from outside into xyplorer
Not using XY:
I can drag in and out of folders. I can drag in and out of Gmail.
Using XY:
I can drag into and out of XY to/from folders.
I can drag an attachment from XY into a new Gmail message.
I cannot drag an attachment from Gmail to XY.
So somehow Gmail and XY and not playing nice ONLY dragging an attachment OUT of Gmail to XY. When I do that I get a URL "Preview" with a file name like:
Preview attachment IMG_20201006_211816_780.jpgIMG_20201006_211816_780.jpg60 KB.url
When I click on that link it downloads the file from Gmail into the designated download folder and opens it.
When I tell Gmail to ask me where to download images I can designate the folder I want but that just gets really old having to do that every time.
Thanks for your help.

Tested dragging Gmail attachments from within Thunderbird into XY: Works fine.
Which client are you using for Gmail?

Most probably the web interface (otherwise he wouldn't get a .url file out of it)?

Re: Cannot drag files from outside into xyplorer
Yep, I can reproduce it now. But no idea how to fix it.

Re: Cannot drag files from outside into xyplorer
I should have mentioned the client: Chrome, with the problem happening through many updates to new versions.
But if you can reproduce it but don't have a way to fix it then I guess I'm stuck. I figured I'm not the only one having this problem, though, since using Gmail on Chrome is not going to be uncommon. Is everyone else able to drag and drop from Gmail on Chrome into XY?
Thanks for checking. I'll be a bit surprised if this is just me but it is what it is.

I reproduced it on Edge.

Re: Cannot drag files from outside into xyplorer
I tried Edge and Firefox and it happens in both.
So, what do you suggest?? Bug to report? Or is this rare, with others not having the problem?

Re: Cannot drag files from outside into xyplorer
Well, the URL that's generated is exactly what's in the drop data. There is no bug. XY does what it should do. I have no idea why Explorer behaves differently.

Hello,
Im using version 23.70.0300 & yes it seems that xyplorer does allow to drag/drop files to outside windows or external apps but does not allow outside files being dropped in.
Looking forward to see this bug solved soon in upcoming builds !

The same thing happens to me in both XYplorer and Windows Explorer (using Chrome and Firefox).
