Thanks.
On this system the uncheck resulted in 'start of re-creating thumbnails' in a big way from the start. Had to do a panic stop.

Looked briefly at your script messages. I or we at this have not done any scripts. Scared away - I guess :-)

If it is simple with just a few choices then it may be something to get into.

I might have found the cause for the white thumbnails. In the next beta you might see an error message that will tell you (and me) more about it.

1) That was with v22.40.0233 or later?

2) No message box?

3) 256x256 works?

OK, I think I got it now. Next beta:

Code: Select all

    * Thumbnails: Now you will get an error message when the temporary thumbnail
stream file becomes larger than the available space. This error can be the
      cause of white thumbnails.

When you keep replying no change, are you selecting some of the white thumbnails and running this:

View | Caches | Refresh Selected Thumbnails

I meet the same problem on my crucial image folder (300 images) (XYplorer 22.40.0238 and previous). Size is 240×320 and clearing cache did not made the trick. Deactivating cache solved the problem.

I had no problem with a different thumbnail size. I have no problem with some other directory where the size was not cached before.

It’s time for me to test the script relative to cache management.

Hi Jupe,
When folder is initially selected it runs through: "Creating Thumbs" and when done it says: "880 thumbs created or updated (High Speed"
This problem does not occur with any other folders that I am aware of.

I just hate having to re-index more than 1TB of images and text files.

I tested again the last beta version 22400245 and same problem… on the first directory with thumbnails I open. Independent of thumbnail size. Other directories do not seem to be impacted.

Did as you said. It created about 14,000 new thumbnails. Fixed the problem as far as I can see at this time.
Thanks all.

For best indexed performance - is it not ok to turn it back on?

Any other settings for best indexing I should use?

This is a new question:
I have two SSDs 1 TB ea. The working drive is near full so I store some stuff on the second, mainly, backup drive.
Is there a, simple, way to exclude indexing ALL of the backup files on the second drive?

How about XY searches excluding the backup files on the second SSD?
Right now I do two searches to cover everything.

Again
THANKS ALL

Don't understand. You mean the problem is always on the first directory you open?

In the only test I made, it’s that I noticed. The first time I had the problem, I had opened first my favorite images directory. I reinstalled a stable version, worked some days with it then tested with last beta. I opened first another directory than my favorite one and the problem occurred in this directory. My favorite directory was not impacted - or others. I have a lot of images directories so I can make other tests.
