Backspace to parent dir no longer selects child

Post by prino »

I don't know when this happened, it's OK on 21.80.0200, and not OK on 22.00.0026.

If in a subdirectory, backspace would take you to the parent, with the focus on the directory. Now it no longer does, which is pretty annoying.

Explain with more detail, please. Are you talking about the tree or the list?

Here in a list view it does exactly what you want.

If I'm in the list, press BS, I go up to the parent folder, and the focus is on the very first file in the parent folder. It used to be on the directory I just left. I's very annoying, as I run programs in this lower-level directory that create a sibling directory in the common parent, and I would be able to go, BS, cursor-up, Enter directly into the newly created directory. Now that is no longer possible! (Now on 22.00.0029)

Regardless of sort order for me it always focuses on the dir I came from.
Try it with a fresh Ini, there must be something special in your settings.

I never ever touch the ini file manually, I just update XY via the Help->Online support->Ctrl+Check for updates. On 21.80.0200 the behaviour was OK, now it's not. "Fresh" gives the expected behaviour, but I loose all my settings, so that's not an option. Happy to attach my ini file (minus the registration info). This behaviour must relate to a setting, and it would be nice to know which one!

v22.00.0007 - 2021-07-05 13:03
* Configuration | General | Tree and List | List | Select last used
subfolder: Now it's limited to Up/Down and Back/Forward.
The extended functionality (do it also when entering a folder via the list
or the breadcrumb bar) is now bound to a tweak (bitfield: 1=via list,
2=via breadcrumb). To restore the previous behavior set it to 3:
AutoSelectMRUSubfolderExtended=3

Lauw loene, which in Dutch means nope.

Exit XY, manually edit the ini file, start and the behaviour is the same, BS returns to the first file in the parent.

I guess you have selected Auto-select first item
under Configuration | General | Tree and List | List |
You should only have Select last used subfolder

AutoSelectMRUSubfolderExtended=0
in my configuration doesn't destroy the Backspace key function.
It works as it should be.
