It happens for me pretty much always although one thing I noticed is if I increase font size a couple clicks it happens straight away, notice in the capture below, once the blue highlighting has disappeared I have pressed end, and then later it doesn't snap into view until I press backspace (or other non directional key), the same happens in dual vert panes.
In the screenshot I have hidden some UI elements, just to focus on the issue and the version number, but no other settings were changed besides font size, I am using 120dpi if it is relevant.

Ah, you disabled "Configuration | General | Sort and Rename | Rename | Hide extensions from rename edit box", right?

It is FRESH settings, which has extensions shown by default, and yes in my normal config where I first noticed the issue I have never enabled that setting.

Ah, sorry, I assumed that box has to be ticked because that was the case in the beginning of the thread.
