Rename file, long filenames not shown properly
Hello!
I just renamed a file with a quite long file name. If you reach the end of the tab-windows while typing, the filename is not shown proberly. Although if you finish, the file is renamed correctly.
XY-Plorer 21.90
Win10 21H1 19043.985
Kind regards!
Benedict

Re: Rename file, long filenames not shown properly
Good morning!
regards!
Benedict
- I have two horizontal panes
- Enable "Hide Extensions from rename edit box"
- Create a new file (or rename an existing one) and start typing. If your filename reaches the right border of the Pane, the text field stops scrolling and you type blindly. after some characters it continues scrolling, but you won't see the last typed characters.
regards!
Benedict

Re: Rename file, long filenames not shown properly
Yeah, can confirm that in a fresh instance (0017)
with vertical dual panes
and
Configuration | General | Sort and Rename | Rename | [x] Hide extensions from rename edit box
with vertical dual panes
and
Configuration | General | Sort and Rename | Rename | [x] Hide extensions from rename edit box

Doesn't happen in Win8. Will check Win10 later...

Checked Win10 (latest update): Nope. Cannot reproduce. (100%, Segoe UI, fresh instance)
Any other factors that might play a role?

Re: Rename file, long filenames not shown properly
I created a fresh instance and changed the following settings:
1) Pane -> Horizontal Panes
2) Tools -> Config -> Hide ext. from rename box
my screen is at 125% scale, Segoe UI 9.
with the "normal" rename box this behaviour dosen't appear.
regards!

Re: Rename file, long filenames not shown properly
I still have the same problem with v22.00...
100% screen, Segoe UI 9
It's absolutely fine with disabled
Configuration | General | Sort and Rename | Rename | Hide extensions from rename edit box
but when it's enabled, it's a mess...

Re: Rename file, long filenames not shown properly
What happens on your system, when the filename extension box reaches the right border of the pane?
If "Hide ext. from rename box" is deactivated the extension is hidden behind the border until the cursor also reaches the border. then the extension shifts left and while you continue typing the extension is always shown and the first chars of the filename are hidden on the left side.
If "Hide ext. from rename box" is activated the extension box is always on top. if you reach the right side of the pane border you type blindly under the extension box. after a few key strokes, the filename begins to shift left, but you won't see the last chars you typed.

Re: Rename file, long filenames not shown properly
I have noticed issues since this change, I'll try to describe the easiest way to repro, but it also happens in different scenarios.
With default settings:
With default settings:
- resize window so the list is thin in width
- select a long filename which when inline renamed is wider than the visible list
- Press F2
- Press END
- notice that the caret is out of view
- press backspace = inline editbox snaps behind scrollbar and extension now becomes visible
