I needed to delete some leftover files that a program I use leaves behind in folders it accesses. I had to do this on my main drive and backup drive.
I just searched for the folder name that it created and that each contained many files. I then selected all those folders that were found and hit delete.
Once on a networked NAS and once on a USB attached drive, in both cases XY deleted very fast about 99% of the files then it just hanged forever on the last bits. Had to force shutdown on XY.

Re: XY hangs & crashes on deleting many files from a search
Need more data:
- How many is many?
- Did the search results contain folders and files?
- Did the search results contain parent folders and their children files?
- Did the search results list have custom columns?
- Delete by key, by mouse?
- Background or foreground process?
- Does it always happen, or irregularly?

Ah....ok. That's a lot of information I don't have right now. Next time it happens I'll take note and report back.
Thx!
