Post by highstream »

Win 10. Using 21.50.01. See attached screenshot for 21.60 keeps returning error message whether updating from within program or download from site with program closed.

There is a xyplorer.exe still running, watch your task manager...

Error happens if XYplorer closed -- not started or showing in Task Mgr -- although the in-program update didn't warn. But with XYplorer closed, I tried twice with full program update downloaded from website, closed the running program in Task Mgr upon message, but still got the same error. Just tried again - same result. Still, why when running the update with the program closed, i.e., just the full install, why does the program itself start in Task Mgr, instead of just the update?

If it does not show in task manager, it's a Windows hick-up. Restart Windows.

You don't need to restart it. Open an elevated command prompt

Enter:

Code: Select all

taskkill /F /IM xyplorer.exe /T
and execute it with the {ENTER} key

The installation should work now...

That did it, thanks. Given the number of updates there have been, surprising it hadn't happened before, but then Win 10 has been acting a bit strange lately, as advertised.
