Hmm, do you have any network resources? Try opening "My Network places" by clicking on the "plus"-symbol in the tree and see (tell me) what's in there.

Well, whatever, there should be no errors/crashes anymore (see latest BETA).

Back again, in the right place this time.
I sort of figured it out...
No network resources as in "workgroup", but neither
tracker beta or release are able to read that folder properly.

http://www10.brinkster.com/expl0iter/samples/sample.htm
^^^Samples!

The latter is taken from http://www.rekenwonder.com/streamexplorer.htm
which does very little, however as file viewer is able to fetch the folder and it's properties proerly, excactly as win explorer.

Tracker 3 (release) doesn't crash but shows empty folder.
The "nethood" folder is NOT empty, but contains ftp's folders.
The reason for the crash is basically the "view workgroups" shortcuts which exists in My network places but does not exist in the "nethood".
Tracker is trying to fetch the network resources as opposed to looking at the folder structure.
If I navigate to "nethood" directly, tracker has no problems and shows the ftp shortcuts.

I took care of the previous lag i had in explorer as well, by removing old/unused netwoked images i had that no longer exist from:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\ComputerDescriptions...

Tracker v 360 and all other resources are back as they were, but
latest beta still generates same errors.

I just reproduced the same error on another system with
3 images (Me/2K/XP)

...And v4.00.01 in win ME no longer generates the
previous *friendly error (97)--but identical error (91) as xp.

That's a lot of stuff :) I make it short:

TV3 does not support FTP, so it's kind of ok if it does not show links to ftp-resources. However, it's not ok if it generates errors. Problem is: I can't reproduce any of your errors (although I did add an FTP-resource to my nethood). What *exactly* are you doing (click where when) to produce an error in ver 4.00.0041?

TV3 does not support FTP, so it's kind of ok if it does not show links to ftp-resources.
The ftp demo was used as sample only!
I did not expect it to connect, just show the contents of the folder w/o crashing or generating errors.
However, it's not ok if it generates errors.
Exzzzactly!
Problem is: I can't reproduce any of your errors (although I did
add an FTP-resource to my nethood).
-Tracker360 does NOT crash! it shows empty folder!
Both tracker 360 or 4...0x are able to navigate to:
\Docs &Settings\user\nethood..
And list the contents of the folder.
What *exactly* are you doing (click where when) to
produce an error in ver 4.00.0041?
Clicking on the + to expand.

I compared the "inported" functions of TV3 & 4.
There are 3 (or more) included in 4 that are not in 3.
I did not go thru deep analysis, but the error is VB specific, better
yet VB5 specific!
(I remember seeing pleny in old VS98 projects lol)

The probable cause:
What is the difference between the 'nethood' folder in the
profile, as opposed to the "special" My network places
on desktop?
The network resources!
Nethhod folder is sys folder but standard. it does not link directly
to net resources such as.. "view workgroups computers" << which is
what tracker 4...x is having trouble with (or seemingly the
VB5 functions used!)

Likewise, win ME's (not sure about 98 since the
"Network neighborhood" may be different) My net places
contains special links (as folder tasks) inside the folder.
'Nethood' folder in windows does not!
Which is WHY tracker is able to see that folder and lists its ftp
shortcuts or whatever as TARGET.LNK without any trouble!

Bottom line:
If there is no network--(no other computers linked to "workroup", "MShome",etc), it'll crash.. at least on all my boxes.

I changed the network functions some weeks ago to make them faster, successfully. I have no idea why you get this crash (and nobody else it seems). Anyway, the error has to be tackled!
I doubt you still get an error in the next BETA (but your nethood will be empty).

Not a single error left!
(but your nethood will be empty).
My network places is.. nethood is not!
Both work as they should now!

Beautiful! 8)
