XYcopy (UAC)

Post by zakoul »

Is it possible to fix XYcopy behavior when cutting a folder or file from an elevated folder?
For example, if you create a folder in "Program files" and try to cut it to a different location, then XYcopy will give an error that it cannot delete this folder. If you just delete this folder, then a UAC prompt will appear and the deletion occurs normally. The problem is when a folder or file is cut out. The UAC prompt does not appear.

Can't reproduce this with a fresh beta version on Windows Server 2019 10.0.17763.107...

This problem appeared due to a Windows upgrade?

No. This problem has existed since I started using XYplorer. A long time ago.
The problem is exactly when I cut a folder or file from an elevated folder. The rest of the operations (paste, delete) are fine.

Cannot confirm for Windows 10 Professional, 64-bit, Release 2004, Build 19041.685. Works totally fine here.

Cannot explain why it does not work at your end.

In 21.50.0111 (current beta), fresh instance, it displays the UAC prompt regardless if I cut a file or folder in an elevated dir and paste it anywhere (outside of that elevated dir)...

Try it in a fresh version first...

I can confirm what zakoul says.
Started the actual beta of XY with the parameter /fresh and tried to cut an entry from program files dir using the context menu Cut.
The status line says "One item cut to the clipboard" but the dir is still there and no UAC prompt appears.
Using delete produces the required UAC prompt and works as designed.

then XYcopy will give an error that it cannot delete this folder
And you get the same message?

Generally nothing should happen on "cut" itself. Only when you paste it...

Yes, with paste on some other dir it works and the UAC prompt comes up.
So all is fine
