Reanme of all files in a folder is unreliable
Reanme of all files in a folder is unreliable
I selected all the files in a folder and right clicked on Rename and the numbering was not contiguous. This happens when new files are added to an already renamed files and I renamed all the files (old and newly added). I have to run rename 2-3 times to get all the files renamed correctly.

Might be, hard to say, mass-rename with auto-numbering can be tricky. Can you give an example?

sorry. just saw your reply. very sloppy of me. Just create a folder and fill it with 200 random jpg images and then do a batch rename of all the files in that folder.

Works well here. I guess you will have to give me an example that shows the issue.

Re: Reanme of all files in a folder is unreliable
Here are 2 screenshots using v22.30.0100
I deleted a few files in one directory and I wanted to rename so that the remaining files are in a sequence. Notice that the file Alpenglow-17 should really changed to Alpenglow-13 but it didnt. See attached screenshot 1.
During renaming, some numbers are skipped. Notice there are no Alpenglow-24, 26, 29, 30, 33, 34, 35, and 36. See Screenshot 2.
If I change the pattern (e.g Change Aplenglow to Alpen glow), then it works fine. What I do to meet my needs is to change the pattern, rename and revert the pattern back to the original and rename again.
Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks.

Yes, that needs some attention. I put it on my list. In the meantime, you can take this two-step step via a free temporary name.
