2) The next beta has a fix attempt, and *more* debug info. Again use Configuration | General | Custom Event Actions | Other Events | Exit: dlog; to see it.
1) This killed XYCopy. It should be noted that it's not often unkillable as noted in my original post. They do not tend to cause an issue except when updating and I notice I have 12 orphaned copies in the background.

2) I will update and leave my exit: dlog; script in place and provide information as it becomes available (as soon as I see orphaned processes).

1) Same as last time. This killed XYcopy.

However: Looking at Timestamps, this may have been an orphan from before I updated.

Yes, that's an older orphan. And there's no Delete operation in that debug data. (Delete is what I fixed.)

I have not see XYCopy hang since the last update. I'll keep watching.

As it was discussed in this thread, I will add the following:

I managed to capture the new folder crash:
1) New Folder Crash - I happened to catch it happening. Here's the clip

2) XYCopy delete 'runs forever', here are the steps on that.
- Queue up a handful of actions
- Add a delete action (separate volume so that it is queued, in my case)
- While the prior actions are running, remove the file to be deleted (rename, delete, etc.)
- XYCopy will go through it's queue up to the delete
- It will indicate "In progress" forever
- Further actions in the queue will not progress without manual intervention, and there is no indication that the delete has failed.
- As it is 'in progress' it cannot be cancelled, skipped, etc.
The only workaround is to close XY and then make sure XYCopy was terminated as well.

Concerning the New Folder Crash:

1) Could you post your settings on Configuration | General | Tree and List?
2) Is that local or network?
3) Delete to recycle bin?
4) If yes, is the recycle bin very full?
5) How do you create the new folder, by Ctrl+N?

1) Attached to this post.
2) The video was on the network (accessed by UNC). However, I have seen it on my local drive as well in the past week.
3) I do not use the recycle bin, it is disabled.
4) Has nothing in it.
5) Yes, CTRL+N.

Yes, I could reproduce this and also fix it (probably). Check out v22.50.0104.

BTW, XYcopy.exe only auto-closes if no final dialog is open when the job is completed. On "Queue file operations" and with "Keep progress dialog open" this can lead to many open dialogs that need to be OK-ed manually:

Maybe this is the cause for your stranded XYcopy instances? The next beta has something new to deal with this.

What can I get that will provide more useful information? It'd be nice to not have XY crash when making folders.

I am aware of that as I used the failed files report from time to time. However, when there is a hanging XYcopy process, there's not an "In Progress" file operation in the XYPlorer window.

- Is it Win10?
- Does it have to be an empty folder (after the delete)?
- Does anybody else get crashes when making folders?

I'm not sure which bug we're discussing.

1) I have not moved to Windows 11 yet, all of my usage is Windows 10.
2a) Delete 'in progress' bug:
- It doesn't matter what's deleted. Simply seems to be an issue that the queue runs into an action it can't perform in some way and gets stuck rather than progressing.

2b) New Folder Crash Bug:
If we are discuss a path like so: c:\Test\FolderA\FolderB
- Where: Test already exists, and FolderA & FolderB are new folders.
- Most of the time it will crash when creating one FolderA.
- In my video demonstration: I expected it to crash when I created the first folder, but it did not so I created another new folder, which is when it crashed.
- In the case XY crashes when creating FolderB, FolderA does not need to be empty.
- Because of what I do often, it is usually empty, but it does not have to be.

3) Both my home machines experience this crash. But that means it could be my configuration, or any number of other things.

I am not super familiar with debugging, but Is there a way to get a pdb file so that when it crashes I can provide more valuable information? Alternatively, is there anything else I can run to monitor XY so that when it crashes the information can help you?

So you are still getting this issue with v22.50.0105?

Could not see it on Win10 neither.

Could you send me your XYplorer.ini file? Maybe it's a particular setting. If you cannot, can you get the problem with a fresh instance?
