Folder View doesn't (seem to) remember column width

Post by prino »

Just a normal folder, visible columns are

- name
- size
- type
- modified
- attr

and to make it a bit more readable, I manually expand the width of the columns a bit, and save the folder view. Fiddle around, i.e. change the sort order, add an extra column (any), and then click on "Restore FV". Sort order is restored, extra column is gone again, and flucking 'ell, the column widths are reduced to the absolute minimum (to see their contents) again. On the"Edit Folder View" dialog, only the four "Applied Settings:" boxes are ticked.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this indeed a bug, as I seem to remember that in a grey past the column widths would stay wider than the minimum.

Not sure if my experience refers to the same issue. After I have saved the Tabset, at startup of XYplorer, the active tab shows standard/different columns, with minimal widths, while the order tabs shows the correct columns as predefined and saved in a column layout.
The other Tabsets does not show any issue.
Settings has been saved prior to closing XYplorer.

Using XYplorer version 21.20.

I still cannot reproduce it. Could there be a relation to the "Autosize Columns" flag of the list? (Not here, but maybe at your end)

And where do I (un)set the "Autosize Columns" flag of the list? Gone to every "F9" option, but I don't see it.

And what makes this even more mysterious that on many folders, with the exact same setting in the FV dialog, I can change the column widths and they are saved!

That does indeed stops it from happening, but it does not explain why it has no effect on other saved folder view settings, where I can change column widths and they are remembered...

Yes, it is not ticked. (Yes, this is the correct answer to your question  )

I never tick it that box, after all, what's the use of saving a folder view if you then let the system apply changes!

I solved my issue by choosing another Tabset, save settings, restart, choose the first tabset, save settings, restart. Now the columns of the starting tab remains in the correct position.
