Lost 64-bit context menu on 21.10.0011

Post by JLoftus »

My 64-bit context menu is no longer working. If I turn it off in settings, the 32-bit menu displays fine, and if I choose "Show 64-bit context menu" from the 32-bit context menu, nothing is shown.

Hm, I should have tested it. :)

Thanks. I post a fix later...

I will just piggyback this topic since it is similar, except I am using .0015 currently.

Don there seems to be another issue with the context menu since it has been renamed, I noticed that when I invoke the x64 context menu now without using the mouse the screen coordinates are always wrong (not at cursor location), I checked the temp file and they don't seem to be getting set correctly anymore, at least not for me.

How exactly do you invoke it without mouse?

With the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+MenuKey.

It pops at the file, not at the cursor. Wasn't it always like this?

Mine pops up nowhere near the file or the cursor currently (except in the older XY version) and doesn't even move if I change panes, maybe a Windows restart will help, I can't do that currently, if you can't repro, I'll get back to you if it continues, or someone else can chime in if they are experiencing the same.

So it correctly uses the coordinates given in the temp file but they are the wrong ones? This is strange because the coordinates are written in XY, totally independent of that XY64ctxmenu.exe file. So I guess a reboot would indeed fix it. (Why do these things break???)

Correct. And they aren't even updated every time, they stay the same most times and just the filenames change.

edit: Just noticed If I use the 32bit context menu in between, then the next time I invoke the x64 it pops up at the last place the 32bit menu was shown, so the co-ords are only updated internally by the 32bit menu AFAICT (the temp file isn't written until x64 invoked though).

PS: If you have the old ContextMenu64.exe around, you can copy it to app path, swap names with XY64ctxmenu.exe, and see if it makes a difference.

Just an update on this, I finally got an opportunity to restart my computer, the result is things are still the same as previously explained, when I first load XY and don't right click with the mouse at all using the inbuilt context menu, ie. just go straight to invoking the x64 context menu via KB first up, then it pops up at 0,0 top LHS, from then on it only shows at the last location the inbuilt context menu was last shown, or at 0,0 if I don't use the inbuilt menu.
I tried replacing with the old icon ctxmenu.exe and the same thing happens, so the issue (if there is one) must be in XY config, rollingback and it works correctly though, and when launched fresh it works correctly. Anyway it doesn't seem widespread and I don't use it constantly so we can leave it as an unexplained oddity, I just thought I would give an update.

OK, thanks for checking this thoroughly. Yes, looks like config. I'll check the code for a way to repro this...
