Preview Error for MP3
Preview Error for MP3
I'm getting the "Automation Error" when previewing an MP3 (actually happens quite frequently with ones with embedded album art that is too big I think).
But this time its either because its tagged with ID3v2.4, or that there is a duplicate empty frame for TIT2 and/or TPE1. I detected these differences with MP3Diags after changing the tag type to ID3v2.3 with Foobar2000, and then the preview in XYP works properly. Any hope on resolving this issue? I can send example mp3 if needed
Thanks

Sent. Thanks a lot for looking into this, as its a vital and extremely useful function in my opinion for lots of xyplorer users. Even all the music players I've tried dont have a quick preview feature that works like this.

Re: Preview Error for MP3
I upgraded to latest version and my mouse down preview still says automation error, and in the preview tab it'll play but but it looks different. The working copy with v2.3 tag present previews fine and looks like your screenshot in the preview tab. What could be the case from what I can tell so far for my preview problem, is that it won't preview any mp3 that has only v2.4 tag present. I'm on windows7 64bit if it makes any difference. Is there a setting I should try changing in the ini?
So far I tried changing
AudioPreviewPPNative=0 to 1
and AudioPropsSecondTries=1 to 0

Re: Preview Error for MP3
Well, the file works fine here. The file is not the problem. Something must be wrong with your codecs.

Re: Preview Error for MP3
I tried on another win7 64 machine and same result. Is the preview using my system codec? I thought it was built in to XYP for MP3. Should I be looking to upgrade the MP3 codec I have installed?
Here is what nirsoft installedcodec reports for the codec. If anyone who uses win7 64 could report any differences, irregularities or suggest what route I should take to update it, please let me know.

Re: Preview Error for MP3
Dunno. Never had Win7.
nirsoft installedcodec shows lots of codecs that could play a role here. I don't know how to find out which codec is currently used for playing a file, do you?

Re: Preview Error for MP3
I installed K-Lite basic on my second machine and it fixed it. Proceeding with main machine now.
Main machine working now too. Problem solved with this the decoding error for this particular mp3. I'll reply here if more preview errors occur.

Re: Preview Error for MP3
I did that many years ago. Yes, maybe that made the difference.
