Out of Memory error in large folders

I have a folder with 1.1M files in it. Before you ask, I put a bunch of family photos there, use the random sort, and am trying to split an equal number of files in subdirectories.

Anyway, anytime I refresh, I get this error:

This computer has 32GB of memory installed and is says 20.8GB available, so do not think it is a "RAM" problem.

I am a licensed user. Help?

32-bit apps can (normally) only access 4 GB at once, regardless if you have 4 oder 32 GB installed. The files are on a NTFS volume, right?

So are you saying that XYplorer is 32 bit only and there is no 64 bit option?

Thank you for sending the link. I must be a little slow. I read the entire 5 pages and still don't know what you are saying. It announces in 2004 that a 64 bit version is coming, then lots of comments.

Is there a 64 bit version? If not, will it be coming soon?

Don

In 2004? It's a recent announcement... Timeframe? Wild guess: 6 - 12 months. Until it's done, XY (its core) is 32- bit only.

The above link leads to a post from this year and announces that XY will this year be ported to VB.NET and thus finally going 64-bit.
There are lots of other posts on the forum discussing 64-bit but currently it is still 32-bit, with the few little limitations this brings, including the one you encountered.

Your confusion must come from the fact that 2004 is admin's joining date to this forum. The post date is 2020:
