I've had the same problem since many months...

Using a locked mini tree (_with_ servers showing under "Network") and after unchecking "Check existence of subfolders in tree" they are...
GONE

I hope it stays that way :masked:

The "Check existence of subfolders in tree" setting (and it's sub-setting) does not make any difference for me. With the normal tree, it's slow in any combination of those settings, and with the mini tree it's fast in any case.

It looks like a known old Windows problem. Try these commands in admin mode :

netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled (=normal to rollback to windows default value)
ipconfig /flushdns
