20.80.0300 Instability

Post by Howitzer99 »

Hi,

I updated XYplorer when the new version was released earlier today, and I've noticed that it's quite unstable. Appears to be crashing, unlike any of the previous versions over the past year. I will be working away, and then notice that the XYplorer has disappeared, and has happened about 8 times since upgrading.

Also, when I received the pop-up notice, it initially crashed XYplorer on my system. When I reopened it XYplorer, the update pop-up appeared, when it didn't before the crash.

This is my first time reporting a bug, so please let me know if there are any additional info or logs that can help to debug.

Cheers,
Dave

Which Windows version is that?
Which XY version did you have before?

20.80.0300

It seems to have just been unstable for the day following the update, since last week, XYplorer has been ok.

Does this have anything to do with how the push notifications are being sent for new updates? How often are they sent to users? Is it only during the first 24 hours after a new version is released?

I am not sure what you call it then, but there is a pop-up notification from inside of XYplorer that says a new version is ready, and asks if I want to update. This is an automatic pop-up, I am not manually checking for new version when this happens. So it would be classified as a push, not a pull notification.

Ok, yes, this was enabled. I've disabled it now to see if it helps.

I don't see an option to not check while XYplorer is open, though. The pop-up notification happens while the program is open, not when I'm starting the application.

It checks one time shortly (exactly 750 msecs) after load.
