File rename issue

Post by frank479 »

XYPlorer 20.60.0200 let me put a slash / into a filename and this had some strange results since it was operating on a Synology volume that was accessible from my PC. I attempted to rename an existing file from filename[1].mkv to filename[1/5].mkv and after it performed the operation, I was left with a folder named "filename[1". When I attempted to rename the folder again to the errant name with the slash, it told me the file already existed. I went over to the Synology side to see what it looked like from there and it was the same (a folder named "filename[1"). So, I deleted the "folder" from the Synology side and restored the file from the Synology backup and renamed it to filename[1-5].mkv instead and all was well. But, XYPlorer shouldn't have allowed me to do such a dumb thing in the first place.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Disable it if you like:
Configuration | General | Sort and Rename | Rename | [ ] Allow move on rename

I agree that this should not be the factory default. Will change that.
