With latest beta double-clicking a PDF file starts the "open with..." window, always. I tried setting it up (again) as the default program for PDF files and still, it brings the "Open with..." window.
I use Nitro PDF to open PDF files and to show previews, if that matters.

Double-clicking a PDF file starts the "Open with..." window
Re: Double-clicking a PDF file starts the "Open with..." window
Can not confirm with 20.50.0307 (fresh and nonfresh). When I disable my custom file association (CFA) pdf-entry, then document opens in Adobe without any asking. With CFA active, the document opens in PDF-XChange Viewer, as defined.
Details of your installation (XYplorer version, Win version)?
Do you have any CFA entry for pdf?

Same version of XYplorer, Win 10 ver. 1809.Borut wrote: ↑15 Nov 2019 09:29 Can not confirm with 20.50.0307 (fresh and nonfresh). I don't have any for pdf files. Maybe you don't have this problem because you are using Adobe, I don't have Adobe installed. Maye XY is calling Adobe when double-clicking on pdf files and as it doesn't find it on my computer it prompts to open the file with other program hence the "Open with" window.
Can you try setting the default app for pdf's to another one and then trying to double-click any pdf?
Re: Double-clicking a PDF file starts the "Open with..." window
From my point of view:
Why don't you simply define a CFA entry for that and try then - the problem should normally be solved?
Also maybe a good thing to know would be: 32-bit or 64-bit?
But maybe the developer - Don - will have something to say here.

It's a Win 10 issue. Borut is right, the best solution is to setup a PFA

Actually you are right, this is a Windows 10 , I didn't bother checking with Windows' own explorer but it is also happening there.
