Windows cannot access the specified device...

I have been using XYPlorer for many years with no problem.
Today I started seeing the following message when trying to open any file with XYPlorer:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You many not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

All the files I try to open in XYPlorer get this message.
Windows File Explorer has no problem with exactly the same files.

My version level is 19.10.0200.
I tired to update to the latest version (20.30), but the problem is the same.

What is the fix?

Nothing in this area was changed recently in XY, so this is a change in Windows, either in state (a reboot will probably fix it) or in nature (a recent Windows update maybe; they usually also introduce some new bugs that will be fixed in any of the next updates, maybe).
