That screenshot is not from the recent beta version. Are you sure you tested v20.40.0029?

Yes i've tested the beta but for some reason i thought you wanted a screenshot from the stable version, stupid me sorry.

Although they don't seem to become yellow like before they are still all refreshing as you can see. The moment i created the last folder all of them refreshed. This is not happening with the "Use dialog to rename single items" option checked.
I've waited 2-3 mins before i created the last folder "bla bla 7" just to make sure all thumbs are properly written in the disk.

OK. Cannot repro it. :\

BTW, if you go to <xythumbs> in the 2nd pane you can see in real time whether/when the cache is written: it's a file called e.g. 0606b150aee6f423f2d1c20edc7ccfb7.dbits (*.dbits, the rest will differ for each folder). First it has 0 bytes, then when it's written it has some more bytes.

Hello again, the bug returned even with the "Use dialog to rename single items" checked. It simply does not get triggered by using folder names such as "bla bla 1" etc.

So after seeing that my idea was to see if some of the software i use somehow conflicts with Xyplorer. So i installed a Virtual machine and did the test again without any kind of software installed and using Xyplorer v20.40 because in that version it's easier to spot the bug. Long story sort the bug is there :bug:

So either its the AMD driver which i don't have a way to test atm or....honestly who knows.

Here is where i give up, thanks for all your help :)

Hello again, although i said i gave up it seems im a bit desperate to find a solution lol.

So my idea was to test older versions of XYplorer one by one until i find the version that doesn't suffer from this bug.

The latest version that doesn't suffer from this bug is v18.60.0209.

Here is the list with all the versions i've tested:

v18.70.0001 BUG

v18.70.0000 *No download link (not tested)

v18.60.0209 Works

v18.60.0208 Works

v18.60.0207 Works

v18.60.0205 Works

v18.60.0204 Works

v18.60.0203 Works

v18.60.0202 Works

v18.60.0201 Works

v18.60.0200 Works

After all this testing i can safely say that the bug was introduced in version v18.70.0000 or v18.70.0001.

I hope this helps to pinpoint the bug some more.

If there are any other beta versions that are not available in the forums, let me know and i will test them.

Thanks in advance :)

Hello again, i've found a new workaround, i'm using it for more than a month now and it's working with no problems.

If i create a new folder, access it and then rename it, its fine, no bug whatsoever, pain to use though when copying folders.

Hopefully we'll give you an idea about the bug in the future :)

Also i would like to make a request until you find the time to take a look at it.
I was wondering if its possible to make a custom version of xyplorer so i can use it until a permanent fix is made.
I would like to request the latest version of xyplorer (v20.60.0100) with this bug fix removed/reverted to the earlier state:

v18.70.0001

"Thumbnails Cache: The cache was not always auto-updated when folders with thumbnails got moved or renamed.
This lead to many unnecessary recreations of thumbnails. Fixed."

That is most likely what created the bug judging from the release notes.

However im not a programmer so i don't know if its a lot of work to do something like that. If its a lot of work i understand, no problem.

As always thanks in advance.

Can't do any zombie-versions. But your bug is still on my list. When I find the time...
