Can you send or link such a PDF for testing?

Really any PDF with embedded images should work. Take this for example: https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/8517ed_4 ... 346032.pdf

Each page is an image file. I can take the object after selecting it and drag it to the desktop and it will copy as a jpg. If I do the same to drop into XYplorer I get an error message.

This drag'n'drop does not seem to work with PDF-Xchange Viewer. It does not drag anything... :(

appears to be a function available only in Acrobat Pro... Acrobat Viewer won't do it.

PDF-Xchange Editor doesn't do it neither. I don't have Acrobat Pro. That makes it hard to debug. :|
