Filename Wrapping in Thumbnail View

Post by benmandude »

I'm having an issue with XYplorer wrapping filenames oddly. On some short filenames (mostly folders) the last character gets wrapped down to another line. This happens in the thumbnail and

I'm using a 4k monitor, 3840x2160, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.
When I used the autosize columns feature, the filenames disappeared until I autosized again.

Here is a picture that shows it. There are no spaces used in the filenames.
There seems to be some odd behavior as to when it chooses to wrap the name to the next line.

I changed the font and the wrapping stopped happening.

Here is what it was set to.

So "Segoe UI 12" makes it happen? Weird, no such problems here.

Strange folder name behaviour

Post by Rincewind »

Just started using XYplorer a couple of days ago, and I'm puzzled as to the way it displays certain folder names in Thumbnail views. I created a folder called "Temp", but it displays the name on 2 lines below the folder icon (Tem/p). If I create the folder as "temp", it's all on one line...

Attached is what I see when creating folders T?mp (? = a-z):

Can anyone please explain what's going on?!

It is probably to do with your particular font size & screen resolution DPI combination, hold Ctrl + use the mouse wheel while over the list and it should correct it, if you don't have a mouse wheel then adjust the font size from configuration:

Configuration | Colors and Styles | Fonts | Main Contents

Or try a different font if need be, but adjusting the size should suffice.

edit: FYI I merged this topic with a similar report.

I've tried Ctrl+wheel, but even scrolling down to the minimum font size still leaves "Tamp" split over 2 lines (plus the names are virtually unreadable, of course). As I alluded to in my first post, if I use lower-case T instead of upper, then all display just fine (pic attached).

It seems like you have too much white space below the fold icons too....
Here's mine with the view set to Large Icons.

Folder name display discrepancy

Post by Bart »

There is some discrepancy in the display of folder names. Names are cut of for some folders.

I use windows 10, XYexplorer version 19.30.

OK, there is definitley a bug going on here. I just fail to see it here. :eh:

Which font and font size are you using in the list?
Which thumbnail size?
Which screen resolution (100%, 125%, 150% ...)?
When you select a folder and press F2 (-> inline rename) how wide is the edit box that pops up?

Font main contents Segoe UI 9.
It happen in all common sizes of thumbnails, set in the configuration:
450 x 300 px
300 x 200 px
128 x 64 px

Windows customs scaling is 175% at 1920 x 1080 px resolution.

When pressing F2, the upper text row is selected at the folder names that consists of two rows, at all the three thumbnail views.

When selecting UAV -> UAV appears selected in one row.
ResqTec -> same.
