Drag'n'drop doesn't work with most programs

Post by iycgtptyarvg »

With most programs drag'n'drop doesn't work in combination with XYPlorer.

Windows Explorer works fine with for instance 7-zip, Notepad++ and Waterfox, while XYPlorer does not. It's incredibly annoying that I have to start Windows Explorer, then drag'n'drop an object to or from Windows Explorer, then close Windows Explorer, then find the directory in XYPlorer, and THEN finally I can use the file.

Could this please be fixed?

It's a known Windows bug: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/396 ... -to-64-bit

Can't do much about it.

But, if it's a bug, why does Windows Explorer work flawlessly? I can also drag'n'drop from pretty much any program I use daily without fail.

Quoting the link I posted:
32-bit -> 32-bit : success
64-bit -> 64-bit : success

That's not true.

x86 -> x64
XYPlorer (x86) -> Notepad++ (x64) :fail

x64 -> x86
Waterfox (x64) -> XYPlorer (x86) : fail
7-zip (x64) -> XYPlorer (x86) : fail
Outlook (x64) -> XYPlorer (x86) : fail

Hard to say what's causing this. I can only add that there no general problem when dropping from 64-bit to XYplorer. Works fine e.g. from Firefox.

Here is a capture of trying multiple things:
1. Drop an email from Outlook.
2. Drop a text file to Notepad++.
3. Drop an image from Waterfox.

In all 3 cases XYPlorer fails, while Windows Explorer works fine.

This looks like a Windows 10 administrative rights issue.

Launch all affected programs as administrator and the problem should be fixed.

Thanks for the tip.

I tried it:
Windows Explorer works always with and without administrator rights.
XYplorer fails always with and without administrator rights.
