I really love the recursive view mode, but there's a problem with it:
If you simply click on recursive view and then change to "files only", all works ok and the folders get hidden.
If you mark more than one folder in explorer and then click recursive view, "files only", the folders are not hidden.

Not a bug but a feature.
If you select 2 or more folders and run a Branch View you get s so-called "Multi Branch View" on those selected folders. Those selected folders are shown in the result list even on "Files Only".
The good news is, you can turn it off. Simply untick this:
Configuration | Find Files & Branch View | Branch View | Multi branch view lists top folders
