Downloaded the new version, browsed to a NAS location, verified that "Suspend.." was still ON. ::dlog; showed the following line:

Code: Select all

2018-11-19 07:59:48.124 >> StartWatch failed (P:\scanned pictures\Unfiled): The system cannot find the file specified.
Also confirmed that starting with /Fresh exhibits the same problem as before, but ::dlog; doesn't show anything in this case.

Very strange, indeed...

Well, I'd say Bingo!, there we have it: The system cannot find the file specified.

The file not found issue seems to be related to the Watch line I had put in (which doesn't really make sense as there are plenty of files there).

However, even a fresh instance still has the problem of "Suspend Auto-refresh" always being ON, and doesn't put anything in the debug log.

So even if the "file not found" issue tells us something, what can we do about it?

I don't know yet. The next version will have an enhanced debug log.

What would the issue with StartWatch be? Maybe part of the problem? There are several files and folders in V:\ so there are definitely things there...

I don't know! I had hoped that it failed only partly, but this looks like it failed completely. So this path is not watchable by Windows, for whatever reason.

Strangely, Windows Explorer updates just fine with it... I would expect they have information that isn't available to those outside MS, but it still seems really weird.

Do any other NAS systems have this issue, or is it something unique to Synology? Is there some way to automate doing a manual refresh (just like hitting Ctrl-R) every second or so?

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think it was updating regularly, and I was doing some video edits. During the rendering process, the width of the size column was flickering a lot, so I turned off the auto-refresh, and it's never been the same since, even with a /fresh startup...

At least that's what I'm remembering... So strange!

This is what I get from dlog after refreshing a mapped drive on my Synology NAS.
Not very telling but since refresh works on mine probably expected.

If you do

Code: Select all

::logchange 5;
and then do something on your drive. Do you get anything in dlog;?

I'll be traveling the next few days so won't be able to do further testing until I get back... Thanks!

When you're back check if you get a ShellNotify log when auto-refresh should happen on that drive.
