Error: -2147024726 (0x800700AA)

Post by GUIguy »

PowerArchiver could not create a file. I kept clicking OK and window finally closed. Then this:

Code: Select all

Error -2147024726

Error: -2147024726 (0x800700AA)
Desc: Automation error
The requested resource is in use.
Dll: 0
Proc: ShowInBrowser

Source: XYplorer
XY ver: XYplorer 18.10.0100
OS: Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1), 64-bit
Locale: 1033
ANSI: 1252
ACP: 1252 (ANSI - Latin I)
DBCS: No
DPI: 96 (100%)

Date: 2017-07-23 19:40:05
I closed the error window, and then XYPlorer closed.
I opened XY back up and when I clicked inside the folder in question, I got the "ding" sound and XY was frozen.
I opened up Windows Explorer and was able to access the folder and all the files, even opening them in a test.
So I rebooted the computer and after the reboot, was able to access everything in Windows Explorer.

HOWEVER, XY still froze when I clicked inside this folder.
The crazy thing--which I discovered by accident--is that after a time (no, I didn't try to see how much time, but I would say in the order of 15 seconds) I can select another file, and then XY freezes.

This is all happening with one specific folder, and no other. For some reason, XY no longer can operate in this folder.

Any ideas out there?

Don't understand what this means.

The error message you showed was raised in ShowInBrowser, which is a function called when you preview certain files.

Sorry...PowerArchiver is a zip program. This all happened when I was trying to create a zip (backup) of a Thunderbird profile. Of course, TB was closed. I was too fast with the mouse and dismissed the PowerArchiver error message. But it finally completed the zip. The XY issues occurred aafterwards when I clicked on the "problem" file to see if it was a valid zip file or if I had to try again. I was unable to select any file in that directory. Is that any clearer?

OK, sounds like something that won't happen again very likely. It's still unclear how the XYplorer preview was triggered. (In the next version I improve the error message to shed more light on this.)

Thanks, Don...

I'll try to be better at catching all messages and the steps that I was taking. I'm too used to unresponsive developers so I just dismiss error messages and bugs because I know no one will do anything. So why bother reporting.?

You, on the other hand, are exceptional; you CARE!

Thank you for being a beacon of light in an otherwise dim universe of software development!
