name conflict rename option for copy/move

Post by LenShustek »

I upgraded to a new version (17.90.0100) of XYplorer when I got my new PC, and the option to rename copied or moved files when a duplicate exists in the target directory seems to have disappeared. It used to offer to rename the file "....(n)", but now it only gives you the choice of "replace" or "skip".

Is there a way to enable the rename option?

Welcome to the forum

I guess you're using XYplorer's custom copy?

I wasn't using "custom copy", but I will from now on.

It implements a different style of "suffix increment" than the older XYplorer used ("-nn" instead of "(n)"), which means that the file numbering in my backup directories will start over with 01, but that's not a big deal. The modification dates will show me the right chronological ordering.

Thanks for the quick and helpful response!

You can change this template in
Menu - Tools - Configuration... - Colors and Styles - Templates - Filename Affixes, first field on the top

Perfect, thanks! I should have known that most questions of the form "Will XYplorer do x?" can be answered in the affirmative.
