Latest Beta - Digital Signatures

Post by VeeGee »

Good afternoon all,
I downloaded the latest beta from the BETA forum post (installer version). Very excited to be using these new features. Everything installed fine and was working, until Symantec Endpoint picked it off due to missing digital signature. The beta EXE does not appear to have a digital signature with it. I downgraded to the latest full release and Symantec Endpoint allowed it to keep running (shows a valid signature in Properties).

While using the beta, I also noticed these before Symantec snipped it :
1 - Opening a PDF from within XY, gives me a "Foxit Reader has been opened by the following app without a valid signature."
2 - Opening Access / VBA Editor, several addins were disabled when opening via XY. Opening the same database, VBA Editor using Explorer and the addins load just fine. After downgrading, no issue loading addins.

Possible the betas are not signed ? or something wonky on my end or with the download ?

Hi all,

For future reference:

I just had a similar (or the same) experience with the Foxit Reader (pdf) software.
BTW, in German the Foxit warning message reads: "Foxit Reader wurde von der folgenden App ohne eine gültige Signatur geöffnet. ...." (in order for a search of the German text to be able find this thread)

I found this forum link which indicates that this seems to be some Foxit-reader-specific behaviour and that a lot of other software - obviously mostly trustworthy, as it is with XY - seems to be affected as well:
https://forums.foxitsoftware.com/forum/ ... -and-again

And here are 2 links to the Foxit-help-pages, describing how to disable that message, either for individual software or all together:
