Re: Can't open configuration file
Hi,
maybe you are running the app for the very first time? In that case no INI file has been created yet. Close the app and re-open it. Then it should work.

PS: Just tried this and in fact you should get this message in the case I described above:
So, what you see is quite strange. I cannot explain it at the moment. You might go to that path and see whether the file is there...

Re: Can't open configuration file
no, that's not it.
i can't open the file by double clicking in windows explorer either so i don't think this is a problem with xyplorer.

Re: Can't open configuration file
Can you view (preview, raw view) the file in XYplorer?

Re: Can't open configuration file
Yes, and I can open in a text editor with no issue. It's just that if I double click in explorer or try to open from XYP then I get the error.

Re: Can't open configuration file
This is scary.
Could it be the file is in use (locked) by some process? Did you already reboot Windows in the meantime?

Re: Can't open configuration file
Pretty sure I have. Works absolutely fine on another Win7 box. Probably some messed up windows thing.

Re: Can't open configuration file
If you duplicate the file (Ctrl+D) and then swap names (Ctrl+Shift+F2), does that help?

Re: Can't open configuration file
Nope. Same message. Only happening with this file. Double clicking any others in the folder opens them successfully.

Re: Can't open configuration file
If you run XYplorer, then delete the file, then "save settings" in XYplorer to create the file afresh?

Re: Can't open configuration file
New file is created. Same as before, previews and opens in editor no problem. Is just a problem opening via double click in explorer or via xyp.

Re: Can't open configuration file
The error message "Windows cannot find..." is obviously bananas. I'm really looking forward to the solution of this case...

Re: Can't open configuration file
OK think I have figured it out. Problem was nothing to do with xyp as I figured, and affected all ini files under the roaming folder. Or in fact, probably any other.
I had a registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Window NT\Current Version\Image FIle Execution Options\notepad.exe which which had a value named debugger set to "C:\Program Files (x86)\TextPad 8\TextPad.exe" -n. Trouble is this file did not exist. Once I changed to "C:\Program Files\TextPad 8\TextPad.exe" -n, which does, voila, the file opens on double clicking and via xyp in textpad.
I think what happened is at some point I selected the option in 32-bit textpad to replace notepad as system editor. Cue removal of tp (32), install of tp(64) and start of issue. So I think all along it was the editor that could not be found rather than the in inifile.
Thanks for the help.
